Frances Lawson Phipps, 94, of Proctorville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday August 10, 2008 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born February 6, 1914 in Logan County, WV, daughter of the late Sherman Lee and Ada Alice Johnson Lawson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Phipps; three brothers, Simon, Clifford, and Alfred Lawson; one sister Rachael Harrison; and grandson Lucas Asa Bellue. Frances was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons Alfred A. Phipps of Belington, WV and Samuel D. and Joyce Phipps of Lewisburg, TN; two daughters, Alice M. and Robert Thomas of Huntington, WV and Pat and Dick Alley of Proctorville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Paul Lawson of Chapmanville, WV; one sister, Edna Gomez of South Gate, MI; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday August 13, 2008 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Huntington, WV by Dr. Ricky L. Ray. There will be no visitation.
