Ozell  EplinBeloved husband and father, Ozell Eplin, 69, of Barboursville, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at St. Marys Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2008 at Barboursville Church of Christ by Minister David Gladwell. Burial will follow at Swann Cemetery located on Malcolm Road. He was born November 21, 1938 in Wayne County, a son of the late Alva and Alice Hager Eplin. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald Eplin and Howard and Mary McSweeney Eplin. He was owner of Eplin Paving Company and was a retired Cabell County Magistrate. He was a member of the Barboursville Lions Club, the Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge No. 313, the Kentucky Colonels, an Admiral in the Cherry River Navy, a member of the Cabell Huntington Chapter of the NAACP and he attended Barboursville Church of Christ. Ozell enjoyed country living including farming, gardening, horses, fishing, running his beagles and politics. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Nancy Shomaker Eplin; one daughter, Nancy Ann Borowski and her husband Dr. Gregory Borowski of Barboursville and was a proud PawPaw to granddaughter, Amy Borowski; two sons, Raymond Scott Eplin and Michael Dennis Eplin and his fiancé Angie Dawson, all of Barboursville; two sisters, Virtle Bartram of Venice, Florida, and Velva Lester and her husband Garfield of Wayne County, WV; one brother, Berton Eplin and his wife Cuba of Huntington, WV; and several cousins, nieces and nephews including Mary Ellen Nicely of Cabell County, Howard Eplin Jr. of Englewood, FL, Ronnie Eplin of Wayne County and Robert Eplin of Cabell County. Pallbearers will be Don Baylous, Ottie Adkins, Bob Bailey, Wayman Turman, Howard Clay, Michael Eplin, Scott Eplin and Gregory Borowski. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Parsons. Friends and family may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

The Eplin family, I just heard about Ozell passing last week. I want you to know how sorry we are to hear about it. We all loved Ozell. He always made me smile and had a joke to share. May God bless you in this time.

Growing up with Scott and Michael I was awarded the special privilege of knowing Ozell. He was a great man and a wonderful jokester. My thoughts and prayers are with your families at this time. He will be watching over you all.
