1932 - 2023
 Charles Burgess “Red” Adkins, 90, of Milton, passed away November 24, 2023, at St Mary’s Medical Center. He was born December 21, 1932, in Branchland, WV, son of the late Ezra and Esther Alley Adkins. He was also preceded in death by one son David Brent Adkins; one sister Sue Adkins; three brothers Tony, Homer and Amos Adkins. He was a member of Union Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife Loretta Janice Young Adkins; children Penny Quintrell (Terry), Byron Burgess Adkins, Dreama King (Mike), Ken Mercer (Cathy), and Kim Grizzell (David); one sister Phyllis Jean White; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor Brent Beckett. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.timeformemory.com/wallace.

So sorry. Red was one of the good old country men we had the pleasure of knowing. SORRY. Missed visitation and funeral. Read in the paper today, TUE, NOV 28 at 11:30.

Sorry to hear of Red's(Dad's) passing. When i was in my teen years you were like my dad. I lived with you in the brick house on Balls Branch. You let me use your car the old Buick to go to my prom.
I also got married there. We all have lots of sad and good memories. Most of all he always treated me as his own. We had lots of fun sleigh riding in the winter. Love you and will miss you. Prayers to you Penny, Byron all the grandkids.

I remember Red and Ray White helping with the church renovation in 2011. I have a picture of Red helping, but this site would not let me paste it in.
