In 1987, I had the blessing of a Divine appointment when I knocked on the door of Jenny and Jack's welcoming home on Main Street. After surgery hundreds of miles away, I'd returned to Huntington to learn my beloved dog was missing. With a shaven head and a photo clutched to my chest, I was sure if I were that lost dog, that's where I'd go. Turned out I was lost too, in need of the lemonade and fresh-from-the-oven cookies Jack couldn't stop offering me. I've never stopped knocking on the Blacks' hospitable door. I've found beauty, deep caring, prayers, and hope there. And most recently, devotion and faith of the highest order. When I get to heaven, Jack will be one of the first people I'll look for there. I know just where he'll be. Near Jesus, the first One on my list. Our welcome that has no end. So much love, Roberta Messner
