Glenn Gene AdkinsGlenn Gene Adkins, 83, of Huntington, WV, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend entered into rest in the Paradise of God on June 25, 2025 at St. Mary’s Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born November 30, 1941 at East Lynn, WV. He was the son of the late Howard and Eunice Lester Adkins and the grandson of the late Elder Joseph and Polly Adkins and the late Ezra and Nora Simpkins Lester. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Gwen Jay Adkins; younger brother Darrell Lee Adkins; and sister, Nora Evelyn Adkins Jones; five nephews, three nieces, six brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Those remaining to mourn are his wife of 59 years, Sharon Ruth Perry Adkins; one daughter, Kimberly (Kevin) Ellis of Logan, WV; one son, Kevin Adkins of Huntington, WV; grandchildren: Meagan Fussner (Matt Dement) of Proctorville, Ohio, Morgan (Bailey) Williams of Roanoke, Virginia, Hannah Ellis, Brandi (John) Welch, and Brittany (Ray) Thompson, all of Logan and Kevin Ellis, Jr. of Georgia; great-grandchildren: Oliver, Karsen, Johnny Ray, Caylee, Waylon, and Ian; three brothers: Harold (Bonnie) Adkins and Carroll (Linda) both of Huntington and Homer Adkins of Barboursville; one sister, Connie (Kenneth) Mounts of Huntington; four sisters-in-law: Judy Adkins of Huntington, Karen Adkins of Barboursville, Carol Perry of Branchland, and Debbie Ludlum of Lexington, KY; special friends, Cheyenne, Eliza, Emma, and Maverick Tomblin of Logan who thought of him as a grandpa; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who were all special to him in their own unique ways.

He was retired from Owens-Illinois Glass Plant after 29 years of service. He was a member of Bethlehem United Baptist Church where he served in various positions. He loved to talk about the blessings of God and his Goodness and to sing and play his guitar when he was able. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish and garden. He could grow rocks in concrete. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers are Homer Adkins, Mark Triplett, Mark Lambert, Mike Eaves, Justin Adkins, and Barry Perry. Funeral services will be held at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at 2 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
