1941 - 2025
In the morning of Saturday, August 2, 2025, CHARLES RAY HALL, of Barboursville, passed away at Cabell Huntington Hospital surrounded by an immense amount of love. Charlie was born April 5, 1941, and raised in Barboursville as the oldest of four brothers to two loving parents, Willard C. Hall and Mildred Ramsey Hall, who both preceded him in death. Charles attended Barboursville High School and served in the United States Navy. He was extremely proud of his service, and he loved sharing stories from his military days. In 1965, when he returned to West Virginia, Charlie married the love of his life, Brenda Frye Hall, and the two built a precious life together in Roach, W.Va. He is survived by one son, Charlie Burl Hall, and a daughter-in-law, Rachel Gensler Hall, of Charleston. Charles is also survived by his three loving granddaughters, Faithanna, Lily, and Malia Hall, all of Charleston. Charlie loved spending time with his family and took pride in his grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments. Charlie worked his entire career at Steel of West Virginia. When he retired, he enjoyed working hard on his farm, both raising cattle and growing crops. He loved spending time outside and spent many autumns hunting. Charles served as the head deacon at Roach Baptist Church, where he was a long-time member. Charles is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Darius and Lora Hall of Salt Rock; a brother, Keith Hall of Ona; a sister-in-law, Barbara Cassady of Barboursville; and nieces, nephews, and in-laws who love him. In addition to his parents and wife, Charles was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Bob & Susie Hall of Barboursville; sister-in-law, Janice Hall of Ona; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry & Sharon Frye of Milton, and brother-in-law Bill Cassady of Barboursville. Services will be on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville. Dear Charlie ~
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of your dad. Charles was a fine man. I have referred to him as Charles, for that is what your mom always called him during the years we taught together at Salt Rock School. Charlie was both courteous and kind to me. I must say, too, that he treated me with the utmost respect before, during, and after I was your classroom teacher. That meant such a great deal to me. May God bless you and all your family always. Your parents raised a fine young man.
Respectfully ~
