 Garnet Rose Blake, 87, of Barboursville, WV, passed away September 29, 2025. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2025 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Monty Foster. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery. She was born November 3, 1937, in Barboursville, a daughter of the late Andrew and Ethel Bates. She graduated from Barboursville High School and Huntington College of Business. She worked as a Keypunch Data Entry Operator for 35 years. Garnet was a member of Barboursville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elza R. Blake; three sisters, Wilma Holley, Iva May Shaffer, and Esther Perry; and four brothers, Melvin, Harless, Hurshell, and Andrew Bates. She is survived by her son, Greg (Cindi) Blake; two grandsons, Zachary Stewart and Ethan Stewart; two granddaughters, Mallie Pyles and Natalie Pyles; two sisters, Carolyn Murphy and Sue (Bruce) Hensley; and two brothers, Cecil Bates and Ronnie (Shirley) Bates. Mom never met a stranger, she loved her family and friends, and had a strong faith in God. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
