Danny Allen Blake, 75, of Ona, WV, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at St. Mary’s Medical Center and Joyce Louise Blake, 73, followed her husband to be with the Lord 12 hours later at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. They had just celebrated 53 years of marriage on May 11. Their funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2026 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, with Jimmy McCallister officiating. Burial will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery.
Danny was born January 18, 1951, in Huntington, a son of the late Russell Blake and Ruby Dolen Blake. He attended Barboursville High School. He was preceded in death by his sister, Katie Hodges and brother, Ronald Blake and is survived by two brothers, Dobie Blake of Ona and Mike Blake of Prichard.
Joyce was born February 20, 1953, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Percy Bernard Hysell Jr. and Violet Bowen Hysell. She also attended Barboursville High School and is survived by her sister, Anita Susie Sutphin of Hurricane.
Survivors also include their children, Melissa Blake-Smith (Bradley) of Ona, WV and Andrew Blake (Victoria Salyers, and her children Brendan and Oliver Shobe) of Proctorville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Blake (Brian Fleming), Kristin Smith, Matthew Smith and Sydney Blake; one great-grandson, Tyler Blake; a host of nieces and nephews; and special family and friends.
