1947 - 2026
 Sidney Dallas Estep, 78, of Barboursville, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Simon Morrison and Outreach Pastor Tom Saunders. Burial will be Baylous Cemetery. He was born November 8, 1947, in Huntington, a son of the late Julian Edward and Glenna Shaw Estep. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Darlene Estep. He is survived by his wife, Madonna Estep; one daughter and son-in-law, Marisa and Michael William Stortz of Barboursville; and two grandchildren, Abigail Maree Stortz and Michael Joshua Stortz. Sidney was known as a child, through out adolescent years as Buddy, Sid as a man. He graduated from Barboursville Highschool 1965 where he set records in pole vaulting on the track and field team. He continued his journey of life graduating from Huntington East Vocational School. Sid became a certified class A machinist, a very respected career. Each place of employment, Sid learned new skills and techniques. As a machinist he was employed at the Barboursville C & O, later CSX, Reclamation shops. After the closing of the Reclamation shops, Sid opened The Sid Estep Tool and Dye shop in his home for 15 years. He was a locksmith also making flint and percussion locks, and other gun parts for muzzle loader guns and pistols. He also worked on antique cars, making parts helping in the restoration of these types of automobiles. In God’s perfect plan he returned to CSX Barboursville Bridge Shop: retiring in 2015. Madonna, his wife of 57 years witnessed God’s perfect plan unfolding many times in his life. Romans 8:12 speaks of the gift of generosity. Sid had this special gift bestowing this gift to those who knew him. He was Baptist by faith, a member of the Rock of Ages United Baptist Church of Guyandotte. He also attended Mud River Baptist Church of Ona for a short time. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
