
Ida Mae Adkins of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Milton, West Virginia, passed away on June 25, 2026.
Ida Mae was the daughter of the late William Earl Nida and Mary Victoria Gill Nida. Her beloved aunt, Nellie Gill, helped raise Ida Mae and her siblings.
Ida Mae was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Bernard Adkins and her son, David Brent and daughter, Amy Lynn.
Also preceding her in death were beloved siblings and siblings-in-law: Lucian Nida, Anna England, Beulah Hayes, Garnet Scarberry, Rod England, Chelsie Adkins, Joe Hayes, Ernest Waters, Roy Ball, Dale Edmunds, John Caldwell, Alfred Burns and Teresa Nida.
She survived by her devoted son, Kevin Adkins (Sue) and two granddaughters, Amy Adkins Pollak (Ryan) and Mary Adkins.
Ida Mae is also survived by the following siblings and their spouses: Wanda (Kennard) Waddell, Mary Jo Ball, Nellie (Jerry) Miller, Rosalie Edmunds, Herbert (Beverly) Nida, Bill Nida, Patricia Nida, Leonard (Kathy) Adkins, Viola Adkins, Aliene Caldwell, Gladys Burns, Mary Taylor and Emogene Waters.
Ida Mae was privileged to have many treasured nieces and nephews.
Ida Mae treasured many lifelong friendships, Anna Jenkins, Shirley Jarvis, Mary Zigler and Amelia Garcia.
She owned and operated, Homes and Land Real Estate, and served as Director and President of the Huntington Board of Realtors and wrote the President's Corner for the Herald-Dispatch. She loved every person she met through her work and truly enjoyed helping others.
Ida Mae was a member of Oak Hills Church In San Antonio. She also attended Guyandotte Church of Christ in Huntington, West Virginia and First Christian Church in Haines City, Florida.
Visitation and funeral will be at Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Interment at White Chapel Memorial Gardens following services.
