Dreema Michele Arcusa, “Shelley”, of Palm Coast, Florida, traveled to dance with the angels after a long illness, on Monday, September 21, 2026. Her family will be celebrating her life on Saturday October 3, 2026 at Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, WV. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon followed by the Eulogy by her dear friend Ms. Sidney Polan, with a message by Pastor Anthony Stradwick.
Her Celebration of Life Service will be given by Pastor Derek Stump, and Interment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park.
Shelley was born on July 20, 1949 in Cabell County, daughter of the late Eulaine Palmer and James A. Mathews. She was a step-daughter to Barbara Harvey of Proctorville, Ohio,
and the late Rosemary Mathews, who attempted to be both a Father and a Mother to her.
She was preceded in death by three sisters... Peggy Cyrus, Susan Browning, & Larra Lynn Mathews.
She was the wife of Paul J. Arcusa, mother to one son, Gary “Steve” Sumpter Jr., Mawmaw to two grandsons, Tyler S. Harvey-Sumpter and Dakota Sumpter & his wife Kayla, two great-grandsons, Liam Sumpter & Noah Bunting, and two great-granddaughters, Aurora Sumpter and Mia Marie Sumpter.
She was blessed with one step-son, Brent Arcusa, a step-daughter, Tara Arcusa and three
granddaughters, Isabel Maryia, Sophie Mia and Layla Grace Arcusa. Additionally, counted among her loved ones were her newly discovered sisters, Linda Lyons and husband Art, of Floral City, Florida, Mary Ann Watts and husband Chester (Sonny), of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and her best friend, Cheryl Adkins of Huntington, WV. Her brothers-in-law, Robert Arcusa and his wife Linda, Rick Arcusa and daughters, Ericka & Kara Mia, Mark Arcusa and wife Kim, their children Allanah, Sumayah & Elijah, Howie Lucero and his wife Jackie, & one sister-in-law, Paula Jean Arcusa (Bowman-Sanders).
She was a member of Central Christian Church in Gallipolis, Ohio and attended God's Family Bible Church in Bunnell, Florida.
Shelley started her career as a Case Manager in Child Protective Services with the West
Virginia Department of Human Services, became certified as a Licensed Social Worker with the Huntington WV Housing Authority, eventually becoming Supervisor of Community Managers. She loved her career and her tenants for over 24 years. She also served as Board Chairman of Cabell County Community Services Organization, was a member of the Huntington WV Mayors Committee for Persons with Disabilities, and also a member of the Palm Coast Red Hats and Palm Coast Fabulous Females.
She was a devoted advocate of her love for canines and over the years shared her home
with Lady, her German Shepherd, Tisha, her Lhasa Apso, Tally-O, her Wire-Haired Terrier, Lord Justin (LJ), her Red Doberman Pinscher, and most recently Sherlock, her tripod Lemon-Spotted Beagle, Toby, her Labrador Retriever/Great Dane, & Sadie Sue, her Lhasa Apso. Serving as Pallbearers will be Pastor Anthony Stradwick, Rondall Capron, Gwindel Ross, Gary Bowen, John David Leiper, and Tony Spears.
