Dale Dean Edmondson DEAN EDMONDSON

Dean Edmondson, age 64, of Kahoka, MO, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at his home.

He was born September 9, 1940 at Fox City in Clark County, MO, a son of Earl A. and Minnie Nimmo Edmondson.

On April 11, 1964, he was united in marriage to Linda Malone in Kahoka.

Survivors include his wife, Linda, of Kahoka, MO; mother-in-law, June Kinney of Dallas, TX; two sons, Brent Edmondson and his wife, Jamie, of Kahoka, MO and Mark Edmondson of Hillsboro, MO; two grandchildren, Tony and Chelsea Edmondson of Kahoka, MO; Colton and Caleb Hammond of Kahoka. MO, who were like grandchildren to him; one brother, Glenn Edmondson and his wife, Pam, of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Josephine Woods and her husband, Bud, of Arcadia, FL, and Burnadean Balzer of Canton, MO; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Earl Woods of Nauvoo, IL, Callie Edmondson of Moody, MO, Nettie Belliveau of Corvallis, OR, Dorothy Alvis of Alexandria, MO, Carroll and Virginia Whiteaker, Betty Rosencrans, John and Karen Malone, Randy Malone and his fiancé, Kathy Parinello, Jerry and Joan Malone, and Bill and Martha Porter, all of Kahoka, MO, Edith and Jack Stewart of Hillsboro, MO, Patsy Hoyt of Ft. Madison, IA, and Billie Hatfield of Wayland, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; fathers-in-law and mothers-in-law, Clyde and Remah Whiteaker and Ted and Dorothy Malone; four brothers: Kenneth, Donald, Lawrence, and Bev Edmondson; one sister, Dorothy Woods; and three brothers-in-law, Jerry Balzer, Charles Rosencrans, and Gary Whiteaker.

Dean attended school in Clark County and later received additional vo-tech training. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, serving in Germany in 1964-65. He was also a former member of the Kahoka Lions Club. He was dedicated to scouting and had been very involved with the Boy Scouts through the years and for several years was Cub Master. He had been employed at Morse Rubber (now Metso Minerals) in Keokuk for 18 years and later worked for the City of Kahoka, operating a lawn mower repair service during that time until he was no longer able to work due to his health. He was also a talented woodworker and had sold his products at various craft shows and flea markets throughout the tri-state area.

Dean loved to hunt and fish and his family was his reason for living. He was a familiar figure around the community in his scooter and enjoyed the friendships he made in the businesses he frequented and over the many cups of coffee he drank at the restaurants in town.

Funeral services are Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Gary Payne officiating.

Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery with full military rites.

Friends can call after 9 a.m. on Friday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with family receiving friends 6-8 pm.

Memorials are suggested to: The Boy Scouts (National Jamboree Trip) for Brent, Tony and Josh or to Cub Scout Pack # 145.
