1931 - 2005

James Wilton On February 5, 1931 in the Town of Leslie, West Virginia the clock of life started ticking for James Wilton Terry, Jr. He was the first child born to the late James Wilton, Sr. and Henrietta James Terry. “Tuppie”, as his friends knew him, spent his early childhood in Raleigh County later moving with his family to Huntington were he received his education and religious training. Following High School, he enlisted in the United States Air force to avoid being drafted into the Army. He served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict. Upon being Honorably discharged he met, and in June of 1957 married Alice Rebecca “Becki” Tyler. To this union four sons were born. He was retired from International Nickel after 29 years of service. “Tuppie” was a quit man known all over Huntington for rarely being seen without his dog “ET” being with him. In addition to his parents his wife “Becki” and a son Todd William preceded him in death. On January 10, 2005 the clock, which began seventy-three years ago, reached its final tick. He leaves to cherish his memory: Three sons, Gregory S. (Stacy), of Louisville, Ky., James Wilton, III (Margaret), of South Point, Ohio and The Rev. Roy E. Terry, of Huntington, WV. One sister, Fannie (John) Layne, of Cleveland, Ohio, Four Grandchildren, Shawn, Derek, James Wilton, IV and Danielle. One Great Grandson Cameron, a special cousin Glen Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon, Friday, January 14 at Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, with the Reverend Roy E. Terry, officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6-8PM Thursday at Callender Funeral Home.
