1941 - 2005

To everything there is a time . . . A time to be born. On October 13, 1941 Larry Eugene Johnson, Sr. was born in Huntington, West Virginia to Newton Mayberry Johnson and Hazel Ford Johnson. He was a graduate of Douglass High School. He joined the United States Air Force in 1959, where he became a medical apprentice and received an honorable discharge in 1963. He furthered his education by attending Huntington Business College were he received an Associates degree in accounting.

Larry possessed a unique sense of humor and loved to make people smile. He had a kind heart, and he always thought of others before he thought of himself. His concern support and love of others will be cherished by all.

For everything there is a time . . . A time to die. Larry departed this life on February 28, 2005 at Mariners Nursing Home after a brief illness. His son, Victor Levon Johnson, his parents, Newton Mayberry and Hazel Ford Johnson, two brothers, Harold L. Johnson, Sr. and Earl M. Johnson and a daughter, Cheryl Denise Reed, preceded him in death. He leaves cherish his memory, his children, Lindsay R. Johnson of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Larry E. Johnson, Jr., Houston, Texas, and Rosalind M. Johnson of Forestville, Maryland, two sisters, Edith M. Johnson and Hazel L. Spencer of Huntington, West Virginia, a brother, Kenneth E. Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska, four grandchildren, Donnell D. Reed, Jasmine N. Reed, Latief S. Johnson, Paige S. Johnson and Lindsay M. Johnson, and one great grandchild, Mekhi D. Reed, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Services will be 1:00PM Monday, March 7, at Callender Funeral Home with the Reverend Roy E. Terry, officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00Am til the time of service at the funeral home.
