NEOMA GILLMAN McCLANAHAN
Neoma Gillman McClanahan, 94, of Silsbee passed away in her home on Saturday, June 3, 2006 under the care of Harbor Hospice. Neoma was born Feburary 19, 1912, in Port Arthur, Tx., to Claude P. and Vallie Shaw Gillman.
She was the widow of Frank McClanahan, Jr. (former Mayor of the City of Silsbee and local businessman). They were married June 7, 1936, and were happily together over 56 years. Neoma also was owner of Junior Fashions, a children’s wear specialty shop for many years, retiring in the 1960’s to spend time at home with her teenaged children.
Neoma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, Lori Lynn McClanahan of Silsbee a sister, Eunice Gillman Allmand of Groves and a brother Marrs Gillman of Port Arthur.
Survivors include a son Jeffrey (Wayne) McClanahan of Silsbee, and a daughter Peggy Pitman and her husband Dennis of Hammond, LA. Grandchildren Travis Pitman, Stacie Pitman Stewart and husband Steven of Monroe, LA., and Julie McClanahan Bailey and husband Scott of Kingston, GA. Great grandchildren include Tyler, Todd and Madelene Grace (Maddie) Stewart of Monroe, LA. and Morgan Nichole Bailey of Kingston, GA. Also surviving are a sister in law, Corrinner McClanahan McWhorter of Silsbee and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
She was a resident of Silsbee and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at 2:00 pm at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial to follow in Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, June 5th from 5 to 9 pm at the funeral home. Pastor will be the Rev. Eugene Jonte.
