Henry Vernon Kazee, 85, born Jan. 9, 1921, of Ashland, Ky., son of Henry Homer and Nellie E. Kazee, passed away at his daughter’s home Tuesday, July 18, 2006, surrounded by family and friends.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and member of VFW Post 4044. He retired from Columbus and Southern Electric Co. and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He loved to fish, hunt and be with friends.
Mr. Kazee was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Bertha Kazee; a granddaughter, Shereé L. Wedemeyer; and a great-grandson, Codie J. Culbertson, both who died in an automobile accident on July 15, 2006.
Mr. Kazee is survived by a daughter, Judith (Richard) Shuster of Whitehall, Ohio; a son, Robert (Shirley) Kazee of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren James M. Culbertson of Delaware, Ohio, Gina M. Culbertson of Whitehall, Kimberly Sue (Charles) Holcomb of Hilliard, Ohio, and Christopher Kazee; numerous great-grandchildren; brothers Edward Kazee of Ashland, Bill (Edna) Kazee of Ironton, Ohio, Charles (Helena) Kazee of Kingston, Ohio, and Claude (Dorothy) Kazee of Lake Charles, La.; sisters Betty Sue (Chris) Kitchen of Bowling Green, Ky., and Lillian (Charles) Pruitt of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at O.R. Woodyard Co. Chapel, 1346 S. High St., Columbus, from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Additional visitation will be at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland, 1501 Central Ave., from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in Marvin Sparks Cemetery in Blaine, Ky.
