Marilyn Davis Georgas, 75, died on Sunday, August 13, 2006 at home after a lengthy struggle with cancer. Marilyn was born January 30, 1931, in Jacksonville, Texas, daughter of Ernest J. and Etta Wright Davis, of Frankston. Ernest Davis was a Methodist preacher and the family moved frequently. Marilyn loved music. She sang for many years with the Chancel Choir of First United Methodist Church of Silsbee. She also sang with the Silsbee Woman’s Chorus, a group which she organized and directed for a number of years.
Marilyn traveled a great deal, with family, with friends, and sometimes on her own. Her travels enriched her teaching and all her associations.
Her main civic work was in connection with Silsbee Public Library. She was involved in founding the Library and was its first Library Board Chairman. Recently she has been involved in planning and fund raising for the building expansion program presently underway at the library.
