Glen Rose BendyGLEN ROSE DENNIS BENDY

Glen Rose Dennis Bendy, 94, passed away in Buna, Texas, September 29, 2006.

She was born in Carroll, Texas May 13, 1912, the youngest of nine children of E. B. and Lucy Dennis. Glen Rose married Cecil J. Bendy in 1934 and settled in Loeb (Lumberton), TX where she was a loving wife to Cecil for over forty-seven years, and devoted mother to their three children.

Glen was a founding member and active supporter of her beloved church, First Baptist Church of Loeb. She taught Sunday school for over fifty years, and was a mentor to many and lived a dedicated life of her strong Christian values. She was an avid fisherwoman, and loved the time spent at her beach home in Pt. Bolivar. In later years, she became known as the garage sale queen, and her greatest joy was sharing her special finds with her children and grandchildren.

Her generosity, the kind and supporting words, a hug and warm embrace will be remembered by all. Her comforting and selfless nature provided her children and grandchildren with a strong foundation, and will continue to influence their lives on a daily basis – with memories to hold forever. From her pioneer spirit she leaves her family and friends a legacy of self-discipline, rugged determination, and the best biscuits in Texas!

Preceded in death by her husband, Glen Rose is survived by her son Kerry J. Bendy and wife Patty of North Dakota, dear daughter-in-law Myra Lou Bendy of Lumberton, daughter Cecile Bendy Clausen and husband Jim Heath of Buna, and daughter Glenda McKenney Burres and husband Keith Burres of Kingwood, TX.

Also survived by her seven grandchildren Cynthia Clausen and husband Larry Pagan of Corpus Christi, Henry V. Clausen IV and wife Monica, Colette Clausen and husband Kent Stahl, both of Nederland, Jeanie Bendy and husband Chad Reeves, Baron Jean Bendy and wife Dana, Bart Kerry Bendy and wife Katy of Lumberton and Meagan McKenney Gillette and husband Scott of San Antonio. And great grandchildren; Lesley Pagan and husband Bryan Garver, Luke Pagan and Charlie Pagan of Corpus Christi, Jacey Rose Reeves and Shadow Rae Bendy of Lumberton, Sophie and Kensey Stahl, Chris, Jessica, and Hayley Clausen of Nederland , and fifth generation great-great granddaughter Sydney Garver of Corpus Christi.

Family visitation will be Monday, Oct. 2, 5-8 pm, with services at 10 am Tuesday Oct. 3 at Farmers Funeral Home in Silsbee, Texas. Interment will follow at Rest Haven in Silsbee.

I am so sorry to all of the Bendy family for your devastating loss. Mrs. Bendy was a sparkling light straight from God and everyone could see that. After talking to her about anything I immediately wanted to make my relationship with God like hers was!!!! My families are Pattillo's and Willifords so they all knew Mrs. Bendy since they were also Chance and Loeb residents. Thank you for providing the photographs at the visitation. Most of us were speaking about what a delight it was to see her so young. My husband as well as all of us replied what a looker she was. Once again my heartfelt prayers are with your family at this time. A light that bright affects everyone when it goes out. In deepest sympathy. Stacey Pattillo Barrett

Our hearfelt condolences go out to the Bendy "clan", Kerry Jean, Cecile, Glenda, Myra and all the younger Bendys. Mom and I only wish we could be there with you all to share a bigger than life hug that Glen was so famous for and to celebrate the life and love of a true Christian woman that was an inspiration and joy to all that met her. But, what a reunion awaits Glen when she and Cecil are together again along with Mrs. Ellen, Buck and Nora, and all the others that have preeceded. There is deifnitely a new Star in Heaven! Love to you all.
