Christine Yielding Neff

Christine Yielding Neff of Silsbee passed away Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Christus St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. She was 88 years old.

She was born April 30, 1918 in Bon Wier, Texas to William Obrey and Nancy Arcola Carroll Yielding. Her youth was spent in Oakdale, Louisiana. She was a resident of Silsbee for 60 years and a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.

Mrs. Neff was preceded in death by her husband Frank; her four sisters Viola Starks, Oma Capps, Hettie Strother and Robbie Ward; her grandson Martin Fontenot II and granddaughter Jennifer Kay Neff.

She is survived by her children, Jean Lack and husband Lee of Kountze, Jaymes Neff of Los Angeles, CA. and Steve Neff and wife Nancy of Beaumont. Her grandchildren are Becky Hall and husband Alton of Fred, Mike Fontenot of Silsbee, Sarah Castilaw and husband Todd of Silsbee, John Neff and wife Shannon of Mauriceville, Kathryn Harvill and husband Alan of Silsbee, Kelly Jarrell and husband Wayne of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Daniel Neff of Warren, Morgan “Buckshot” Neff of Beaumont, very special granddaughter Cathy Cleveland Herron of Silsbee and special friend Patrick Lee of Los Angeles, CA., step grandchildren are Jenifer Lack of College Station and Jody Lack of Kountze.

Mrs. Neff’s great-grandchildren are Chris and Martin Fontenot III, Sierra and Michael Fontenot II, Michalea Durr, Caden Castilaw, Traci, Jazmini and Alexandria Harvill all of Silsbee, Trystan Hall of Fred, Jacob and Madison Neff of Mauriceville and Alexandra Castilaw of Burleson, Tx.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Gary Midkiff at Priority One Ambulance Service. Due to his skill and heroic effort on February 11, 2006, we were able to have 8 more months with our Mother. Also special thanks and great gratitude to Dr. Scott Sherron for the gentle kindness he showed our Mother while she was under his care. A true life Dr. McDreamy that made an old woman want to put on her good perfume for him. His care, concern and compassion is what helped us to have our Mother longer.

We cannot forget all the good people at Pine Arbor Convalescent Center in Silsbee. During the six months that Mom was a resident, she learned to love all the staff. She really missed them after she was able to return to her home.

Special, special thanks to Dr. Billie Strother of Maui, Hi., for her visits, calls, love and compassion and for the many warm blankets she brought Mom while she was ill. Thanks to Wanda and Kenneth Harwell for their faithful love and prompt help in times of need. Thanks to Ruth Bounds who was a good neighbor to Mother.

Our Mother was a great lady and we will miss her for the rest of our lives. If you still have a Momma, tell her that you love her while you still can.

Jean Lack, Jaymes and Steve Neff.
