1927 - 2006

Herb  ScobyDuron H. (Herb) Scoby was born November 16, 1927 in Amarillo, TX to Duron H. Scoby and Alpha Pearl Eblin Scoby. He attended Amarillo High School and Amarillo Jr. College. A veteran of WWII, having served four years in the Navy, he was employed in the insurance business from 1957 until retirement in 2000. He worked as an adjuster, claims manager, quality control supervisor, and catastrophe adjuster, and was a member of the National Assn. of Catastrophe Adjusters, The National Association of Destroyer Veterans, and the Lumberton Post of the American Legion.

Mr. Scoby was preceded in death by his parents; his son, David Mark Scoby; and his sister Patsy Norris. He is survived by his wife Shirley Waters Scoby of Lumberton, daughters Rhonda Scoby of Tyler and Debbie Cunningham of Lumberton, brother Robert Joe Scoby of Albuquerque, NM, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 7 with graveside services at R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee at 2 p.m. Wednesday , November 8.

Herb was a great guy and a wonderful uncle. He was a prankster with a very good sense of humor. He reminded me alot of my grandmother (his mom). I'll miss him.
