ROGER ALVA SMEDLEY
Funeral services for Roger Alva Smedley, 75, of Kountze will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Big Thicket Baptist Church of Kountze. Interment will follow at Smedley Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
Mr. Smedley died January 9, 2007 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Roger Smedley was born in Salem, IN. He resided in Port Arthur for approximately twenty years and retired as a Port Arthur fireman. He then moved to Kountze and has been a resident of Kountze for 40 years. He was co-owner of Flowers by Smedley Flower Shop in Silsbee. Mr. Smedley was an Air Force veteran proudly serving his country during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include wife Margaret Smedley; daughters Julie Anne Anderson of Denver, CO and Donna Lee Middlebrook of Kountze; grandchildren Jason Anderson and wife Crystal, Christopher Anderson, Brady Middlebrook and Leslie Haralson and husband Ricky; great grandchildren Justin Haralson, Johnathan Haralson, Madeline Ann Anderson and one on the way.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Williams, Jim Turner, Jason Anderson, Christopher Anderson, Brady Middlebrook, Ricky Haralson and Johnny Keither Bryan.
