1945 - 2007
James Austin Underhill, 61, of Silsbee passed from this life on Sunday, January 21, 2007 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, January 26, 2007, 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Silsbee, where he was a faithful member for over 30 years. Visitation will begin Thursday, January 25, 2007 at 5 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
Mr. Underhill was born on November 2, 1945 to Morris and Maeooa “Maizie” Underhill in Grand Island, Nebraska. He graduated from Weslaco High School in Weslaco, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his youngest son, John David Underhill.
Mr. Underhill was the owner and certified public accountant of James A. Underhill, CPA in Silsbee, Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1973. He proudly served his country for three tours of duty in Vietnam during the war, and was a celestial navigator for the United States Navy.
Mr. Underhill was a faithful and active member of his church, as well as in the community of Silsbee. Mr. Underhill was generous with his time, as well as his talents. As a certified public accountant, he helped many organizations, businesses and city governments over his career.
Survivors include his wife of over 37 years, Margaret Jaco Underhill of Silsbee; son Clinton Morris Underhill and his fiance’ Robyn Torres of Silsbee; daughter Tanya Lee Sewell and husband David of San Francisco, Ca.; brothers Stephen O. Underhill and wife Delores of DeSoto and Stanley O. Underhill and wife Jimmie Sue of Plano; sister in law Julie Jaco Stir and husband Mark of Destin, Fla.; uncle Jim Richardson of Maryland; three grandchildren, Beaux and Bubba Torres of Silsbee and Cree Sewell of Beaumont and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of James A. Underhill to the First United Methodist Church of Silsbee or the Salvation Army.
Mr. Underhill was loved by many and will be terribly missed by all who knew him. He was a blessing from God to his wife, family, friends and everyone whose life he touched. A star has gone from the skies tonight, but a flower blooms in the Master’s garden.

Dearest Margaret, Clint and Tanya and extended family,
Please accept our very deepest and sincerest sympathy in your loss.
Jim was a wonderful human being. He cared so much for you and also for his fellow man. He was so proud of you all and each of your accomplishments.
We have so many wonderful memories of happy times during his UT days and exploring Albuquerque during his early career days. We enjoyed the many healthy debates and discussions we had with him. You always knew exactly where he stood - no sugar coating it!
We will miss him very much.
All our love to you all.
Pam, Bob, Brett, Shala, Ryan and Christine
