Mr. Eugene Sanford McClure, age 69, of 3588 Hwy. 120, Tallapoosa passed away Saturday, February 3, 2007. Mr. McClure was born in Haralson County on November 3, 1937. He was the son of the late Elbert McClure and the late Nora Cheatwood McClure. Mr. McClure was a lifelong tile setter and drag racer. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene McClure and Geraldine McClure; and one brother, Harley McClure.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Haynie McClure of Tallapoosa; one daughter and son-in-law, Jodi and Jeff Gray of Tallapoosa; two sisters, Betty Ann Priest of Athens, AL and Hazel McCollum of Cedartown; four brothers, David McClure of Tallapoosa, Lovie McClure of Bremen, Horace McClure of Bremen and Delbert McClure of Buchanan; six grandchildren, Ryan Blankenship, Dustin Blankenship, Tina Gray, Samantha Gray, Tammy Gray and J.D. Gray; and a number of other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 3:00 P.M. from Hutcheson’s Memorial Chapel with Rev. Buddy Gentry, Dr. Allan Wilburn and Rev. Oscar Cash officiating. Music will be rendered by Denise McClure, Robin Finley, Ricky Shirley and Ashton Shirley. Interment will follow in the Brannon Perryman Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Scott McClure, Barry McClure, Randy McClure, Tommy Priest, Mack McClure, Glafus Bowling, Rodney McClure and Ryan Blankenship. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: nephews and friends.
