1952 - 2007

Michael Lynn Howard born May 23, 1952 went to be with the Lord February 10, 2007 at the age of 54. Graveside services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at Antioch Cemetery in Buna under the direction of R. S. Farmer Funeral Home.

Michael served in the U. S. Army for over 7 years. He received the National Defense Service Medal, twice awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was an expert Infantry man. He left the army as an E5.

Michael then worked as a tugboat Captain for approximately 12 years on the inter coastal canal. He then worked as a corrections officer for approximately 18 years in Missouri and Colorado.

Michael resided in Texas for the last five years. Michael was an honorable man loved by all his family and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother Ethel Mae Nichols and father Leon Howard; also his wife Audrey Luckey Howard. He has two surviving daughters with Audrey; Darla Jean Howard and Ethel Inez Dorsey and husband Donny from Tipton MO. and five grandchildren; also a son Michael Leon Howard from Silsbee and daughter Julie Taylor from Little Rock, AR. He has four grandchildren with them.

Michael was married to his serving wife Debbie Howard for 14 years. She has five children he loved as his own. Daughters Shelly Bennett, Tonya Potts, Mary Joe Johnson, Beverly Atma and son Mark Mobley with sixteen grandchildren.

Also survived by 3 brothers Perry Leon Howard and wife Freda from Silsbee, Ronnie Howard and wife Robin from Beebe, AR. and James Johnson and companion Vickie Rea from Cole Camp, MO.; 3 sisters Debbie Peveto from Silsbee, Darla Kaye Bell and husband Dennis from Bridge City, and Donna Regnier and husband Dave from Gaston City, OR. and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Debbie, So sorry to hear about Uncle Mike I hate that Grandpa's side of the family is so spread out and not very close. Wish we could have all been in touch. Uncle Mike was a great man and always had a huge smile on his face. I am so glad all the memories we have of him are all good. Our prayers are with you all. Sincerely, Sissy (Gayle's Daughter)
