1934 - 2007

Charlotte Caraway Rand Charlotte Caraway Rand, 72, formerly of Beaumont, passed away in San Antonio Wednesday, February 28, 2007, after a long illness.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she was born in Beaumont, on May 15, 1934, and resided in her beloved hometown of Silsbee, until adulthood. She was a graduate of Sam Houston State University, where she met her first love and husband of 49 years, Jim Rand. They enjoyed teaching and coaching careers in China, Silsbee, Groesbeck and Beaumont, Texas. They also fulfilled their shared passion of owning and operating Rand’s Florist and Nursery in Beaumont for 8 years. Charlotte finished her career in teaching in Vidor and Houston-Alief School Districts, retiring in 1996 in Sugar Land, Texas, where she and Jim resided for 13 years. She had many artistic and creative talents. She loved decorating, gardening and cooking, and was admired by all the recipients of the wonderful meals that she prepared. Her greatest joy was time spent with her children and grandchildren, all of whom were deeply loved and adored. Charlotte also cherished her time spent in fellowship with the Lord, her many lifelong friends and family, and she will always be remembered for her loving, sweet, generous and kind spirit.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; a son Mickey Rand; her parents Lester and Della Caraway and brothers, Dwaun and Clifton Caraway, all of Silsbee. She is survived by a son, Rex Rand and wife Kim of Katy; two daughters Paula Rand Sessions of Groves and Renee Rand Cesmirosky and husband Joe of San Antonio; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and beloved sister-in-law Rowena Caraway of Silsbee.

Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Sunday March 4, 2007 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with Pastor Paul Kimes of Parkway United Methodist Church in Sugar Land officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation will be Saturday evening, March 3rd from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Joey Rand, Rusty Rand, Brandon Sessions, Kaleb Norris, Blake Sessions, Matthew McCarley, Ethan Mullani and Randall McCaw.

As people who have also lost our mothers, please know that our prayers are with you during this time of loss. Our prior commitment to a very important event at our church prevents us from coming to the funeral, but we hope the plant we sent will represent our condolences. Jimmie and Carol Rand
