Edna Rae Guynes Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1912 - 2007 Funeral services for Edna Rae Guynes, 94, of Silsbee will be 2:00 pm Wednesday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in William Hart Cemetery in Kountze. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Guynes died April 30, 2007 at Silsbee Convalescent Center. Edna was born in Kountze and was a lifelong resident of this area. She retired from the City of Silsbee, where she worked as the city secretary for 36 years, serving under six different mayors. Edna had also worked at one time as society and personals editor for the Silsbee Bee. Mrs. Guynes was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Silsbee. Survivors include sisters Ruby Ward of Silsbee and Mittie Stoeppleman of Hollister, Missouri; two nephews; three great nephews; two great nieces and one great, great niece.

Ruby and family, "Miss Edna" as I called her when I was a kid, was such a fixture in Silsbee. Her many years of service to the community served as an outstanding example to several generations. She will be missed.
