Jolyne Brandon Cannon Elston Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1943 - 2007

Jolyne Brandon Cannon ElstonMay 20, 1943 – April 28, 2007

A memorial service for Jolyne Elston, 63, of Lumberton will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.

Mrs. Elston passed away peacefully Saturday, April 28, 2007 after a diagnosis of lung cancer only a week earlier.

Jolyne was born in Liberty and was a lifelong resident of SE Texas. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking and spending time in her yard, not to mention “watching the weather”. Over the years, she worked as an accountant for various country clubs in Beaumont. She will be missed by so many and will be remembered for her beautiful laugh, her desire to be a Mother, Grandmother and dear friend.

Mrs. Elston was preceded in death by her parents, Flora Mae Brandon and Earl Jefferson Brandon.

Jolyne is survived by her son, Michael Earl Cannon and his son Brandon Parker-Cannon, both of Caney Head; her daughter and spouse, Lana Jo Hutton and Lee G. Pointer and their two children, Marcus Scott Cannon-Hutton and Caleigh Mae Hutton, all of Camas, Washington. She is also survived by a brother William Earl Brandon of Ivanhoe; sister Katherine Dodge of Baytown; niece Gambol Golden of Baytown and last, but certainly not least, her dearest companion, beloved “fat cat” Dinghy.

After the services, family and friends are encouraged to come by Jolyne’s home in Lumberton for refreshments and to share their fondest memories of a woman so many of us will miss.

Flowers are welcome but the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Center for Lung Disease or the American Cancer Society.

Although I have many, many fond memories of Jolyne, they all have something in common: they all start with that sweet little chuckle of hers, have an " I love you" somewhere in the conversation, and end the same as they started. That smile and laugh was to tell the whole world who she was .

I worked with Jolyne at Idylwild and she was a kind and caring lady.I remember that last year for my birthday she baked me a cake and brought it to the Club to share with everyone, she was just a wonderful friend. She made you feel at ease around her. I know my wife enjoyed talking to her when we had get togethers at work. Our lives will be richer for knowing her. We send each of you our sincerest condolences and pray that God will give you peace and strength through these trying times. Sincerely, Alvin and Dottie Hales

Our husbands worked at Western Electric together long time ago. I ran into her shopping one day a few months ago and we exchanged phone numbers. I was so shocked to hear of her passing. She was a wonderful friend. I will miss her. Love Carolyn

My Dear Jolyne, and to my dear friend Lana Jo, You two women brought strength and passion into my life. I am so forunate to have the opportunity to call you two Texan women my friends. I only regret that I did not have taken more time to get to know you, Jolyne. I got the chance to hear about you everyday through Lana, and so feal that I came to know you very well. You offered wisdom and a passion for life through our laugh, words, and deeds. You don't know the effect your love and advise had on people. I will miss you, and will keep you in my thoughts for all time. Love you Jolyne, and Lana Jo, my dearest friend. Ramona
