Steven 'Steve' Wayne Byrd, 49, of Lumberton, Texas passed away November 29, 2007 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont from a heart attack.
Steve was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. He was, in his own words, "a good ol' country boy" who loved the outdoors, the Pittsburg Steelers and more than anything else, his family. Steve was born in Beaumont and had lived in Lumberton since 1967. He worked for BASF as a maintenance planner.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandfather James Earl Smith, Jr., sister Pamela Byrd Atwood, uncle Charles Byrd and cousin John Paul Chadwick.
He is survived by his wife Renee Byrd; daughter Shanna Byrd Thurston; granddaughter Kylee Renee Thurston; daughter April Byrd Nectoux and husband Kevin Nectoux; parents Jim and Earleen Blacksher; grandmother Della D. Smith; sister Rachel Byrd and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Byrd will be 10:00 am Monday, December 3, 2007 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in R. S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Dear Renee & Family:
I am very sadden for your loss; words can not express my sympathy. I worked with Steve at the Beaumont site for 20+ years and he always made me laugh. He was quite a character who's friendship I will always treasure.

I will miss Steve, he was always a happy person, never complaining, always thinking of others and willing to help anyone out at anytime. The world will be worse off without you Steve!

I'm deeply saddened by the news of Steve's passing.
He was a rock solid memeber of my Team during my time in Beaumont and a true plesure to be around. I know how much he adored his wife, children and granddaughter and pray you will continue to carry on knowing how much he loved you all.
