Violet Rebecca Kirkpatrick departed this life 8:00 pm Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Born to a pioneering East Texas family, she was a 1931 graduate of Silsbee High School and a life long resident of Silsbee, known to all simply as Aunt Violet.
Though Aunt Violet did not give birth to any children, she was the Mother to a large family of whom she gave herself completely and unselfishly. For many years, she cared for her parents Henry Walter and Maude Kirkpatrick. Through her personal self-sacrifice she led by example, imparting the virtues of charity and love of family to her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Aunt Violet was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was an active member in Relief Society.
She is survived by her brother William J. Kirkpatrick of Buna and minions of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Silsbee with interment following in Antioch Cemetery in Buna. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Wednesday at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
