Virginia Elizabeth HendrixVirginia Elizabeth (Bobbie) Patterson Hendrix

Sept 17, 1917 – Jan 9, 2008

Virginia (Bobbie) Hendrix was born to George Patterson and Corrie Pritchett Paterson on September 17, 1917 in Austin, Texas and went to be with her Lord on January 9, 2008 in Silsbee, Texas. The "dash" was filled with challenges and joys of life and surrounded by loving family and friends. Her family moved to The Heights in Houston where after graduation from high school, she met a ministerial student from Arkansas who was studying at Houston's Evangelistic Temple from which they both graduated. (Following mergers with other Bible Schools, it is now known as Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas.) On a church youth trip to Honey Island, Texas, Alvin Hendrix proposed to her and they were married in Houston on December 20, 1938.

Rev. & Mrs. Hendrix pastored several churches in North Texas and one in Houston before moving to Silsbee in 1954 with their three sons to pastor First Assembly of God. She remained a resident of Silsbee until her death. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brother George Patterson, Jr. and sister-in-law Frances, her brother Raleigh, sisters Eugenia (Jean) Jennings and Billie Patterson, daughters-in-law Karen Hendrix and Verlina Hendrix, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Surviving Mrs. Hendrix are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Ed and Sarah Hendrix of Silsbee, Dale and Michele Hendrix of Houston, and Lowell and Geraldine Hendrix of Guatemala City, Guatemala. Mrs. Hendrix also leaves 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law James Jennings of Silsbee, sister-in-law Virginia Felker of Atlanta, Georgia, as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerable friends around the world.

The service will be Sunday, 3 PM, at First Assembly of God, Silsbee (directions available at http://www.silsbeefirstag.org/pwsite/directions.php ).

Immediately following the service there will be a reception in the J.A. Hendrix Family Life Center on the church property for EVERYONE attending the funeral (brief, informal burial will occur Monday morning at Resthaven Cemetery).

Visitation will be Saturday evening at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 North 4th St., Silsbee. Four (4) PM for the family, 5-7 PM for friends & loved ones.
