Funeral services for James Alvis Taylor, 84, of Silsbee will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Military graveside services will be conducted by SE Texas Veterans Group. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor died January 24, 2008 at Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas in Orange.
A native of Maude and a longtime resident of Silsbee, Mr. Taylor retired from Operators Union Local 450. He proudly served his nation in the US Army during WWII and fought with General Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. Jim was a longtime Commander of the American Legion Post 44 and a lifelong member of the VFW Post 1514.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife Lucille Taylor. Survivors include sons Lonnie Blakeney of Livingston and Richard Harrison and Earl Harrison, both of Palestine; daughters Carolyn Marshall of Palestine, Linda Hollis of Lumberton and Melissa Harrison of Palestine; sister Eva Beachum of Texarkana; seventeen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
