September 28, 1923 February 16, 2008
Doma Faye Gore (Aunt Doomie) to nephews and Nannie to the grandchildren, 84, of Silsbee, entered her heavenly home to be with her beloved husband and valentine, Vernon C. Gore on February 16, 2008. She died under the care of Harbour Hospice and her long time private care giver Brenda Bolar of Texas Total Care. She was surrounded by her family and special care giver Brenda at her bedside in her home. She fought a long and hard battle with her hypertension and multiple strokes.
Born on September 28, 1923, Hornbeck, La, to James Dudley and Virginia (Virgie) Callaway, they moved to Silsbee after completion of high school. She met and married Daddy and they spent 64 years of marriage together before he passed away. She was an avid Silsbee Tiger fan and loved her nursing career. She retired from The Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas where she spent many years as an LVN in the Cardiac Care Unit. She is still known by some of her patients that she gave such loving care to. We will miss her stories of the early days and early Silsbee. When she and Daddy were able they also loved their lake place at Rayburn. We spent many a weekend skiing, riding wave runners and watching her cheer us on. After a decline in health she maintained an eye on Daddy and his cattle herd. We rest with the thought that she is calling cows for Daddy in the special place that Daddy has made for her in Heaven.
Mama is preceded in Death by her parents, two brothers, Rupert and Norman Lynn Callaway of Fred and her beloved husband Vernon.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Farmers Funeral Home Chapel in Silsbee with Pastor Scott Moody of First Baptist Church and Rev. Glen Barnhill conducting the services. Graveside services and interment will be held at Cunningham Cemetery in Silsbee. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8:30 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Lynda Vern Gore of Beaumont, Rita Faye Smith and Janelle (Jan) Buckner & husband James (Tree) Buckner of Silsbee. Four grandchildren, Stacy Williams and husband Prentice (J.J.), Nichole (Kinki) Smith, Erik Duston (Dusty) Smith & wife Julie, and Chelsye Buckner all of Silsbee, Tiffany Terriott and husband Chris of Buna. Ten great grandchildren: Payton, Maddison, Gavin Tucker Smith, Tori & Avery Terriott of Buna, twins Drake & Dawson Williams and Briana, Naomi & Erik Jr. (EJ) Smith of Silsbee. Four Sisters-in-Law: Eloise (Baby Doll) Bean, Doris Jeffcoat, Maxine Gilmore of Silsbee, Mary Jo Callaway of Fred. One brother-in-law: Marshall D. Gore of Silsbee. Seven nieces: Joan (Joanie) Smart of Silsbee, Sandra Bean of Temple, Jane Wadley of Longview, Lynessa Heiselbetz, Jo Ann Watts of Fred, Kim and Melanie Gore of Silsbee. Nephews: Billy Paine of Silsbee, Larry Dale Paine and Harold Bean of Lumberton, Dwight Gore and John Dudley Callaway of Fred, and Kyle Gore of Silsbee and numerous relatives and extended family. We will all be totally lost without her direction, compassion and never ending love.
We wish to acknowledge Texas Total Care, Doctors Guillet, Punay and Colgan for their extended care and Harbour Hospice with special thanks to Johanna Hayes and Kathy Golke for their great support through this trying time. Also thanks to her Sunday school class at the First Baptist Church for always keeping her involved, updated and special visits
