Reta Anna MeroReta Anna Mero 84 of Clark on Keller Lake Retirement Community, Grand Rapids and long time resident of Lakeview passed away Thursday June 19, 2008 at Faith Hospice At Trillium Woods.

She was born October 18, 1923 in Pine Township, Montcalm County the daughter of Clark and Lelia Ostrander Rasmussen. She graduated from Lakeview High School and on June 20, 1947 married Carl Mero of Morley. Reta was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years Carl, her parents, a bother, Kenneth, a brother-in-law Jack Tate and a sister-in-law Bernice(Mrs. Floyd) Rasmussen.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Cindy and John Raven of Greenville, and two grandchildren Emily and Andrew Raven. She is also survived by five brothers and four sisters and their families; Doris (Mrs. Kenneth) Rasmussen, Floyd Rasmussen, Mabel Tate, Marjorie (Frank) Lund, all of Greenville, Russell (Margaret) Rasmussen, Theo Rasmussen, Anna (Louis) Morse, all of Lakeview; Clark (Margaret) Rasmussen, Bernard (Kay) Rasmussen of Stanton; Audrey (Jerry) Crane of Six Lakes.

Reta was a member of the New Life First United Methodist Church of Lakeview, the Hough-Pontius Ladies Auxiliary VFW # 3701, and the Auxiliary of the Michigan Rural Letter Carriers. She enjoyed golfing, dancing, bowling, playing cards, cooking, sewing, crafts and puzzles. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She especially enjoyed attending all of their music and sporting events. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday June 24 2008 at 11 AM from Greenville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Joy Moore officiating. Private burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, on Monday June 23rd from 6 to 8 PM. The family suggest memorial contributions be made in Retas memory to Faith Hospice, Grand Rapids, or Clark on Keller Lake Retirement Community.

Cindy and Family, Gabe and I had planned to be at the funeral home tonight to offer our support and our sorrow for the loss of your mom. I am so sorry that we can not be there.
