E. Darlene Myers Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1939 - 2008

E. Darlene MyersGreenville - Darlene Myers, age 69, of Greenville went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 after a long struggle with cancer. During this time she found Christ her constant companion and leaned on Him for His grace and peace. She showed tremendous courage, had a wonderful spirit, and terrific sense of humor and smile throughout her illness. Darlene wanted to express her appreciation to her family and many friends as their support in prayer, visits, calls, food, and the many other ways their love was shown, was truly invaluable to her. She married Keith Myers who has been the love of her life for 51 years. By God's grace they have shared many happy years and memories. Keith served Darlene tirelessly and unselfishly throughout her illness. Darlene was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had been in attendance there for over 60 years. She was very active in serving with the youth, AWANA, Bible School and also played the piano and the accordion in earlier years. She was employed by Arrowswift Printing for over 18 years and was a member of the Joyful Sounds singing group for upwards of 15 years. She is survived by her daughter Tonda and son-in-law Tim Hoag, daughter Melodie and son-in-law Chris Carter, daughter Keithann and son-in-law Tom Laughter, daughter Regina and son-in-law Bryan Brooks, son Kurt and daughter-in-law Cindy Myers, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her loving sister Meryl married to Dr. Wilbert Welch and many nieces and nephews. Darlene was a devoted wife and mother who loved spending time with her family. In going from the arms of her loving family and friends Darlene has entered the arms of her waiting Savior Jesus Christ. Her wish is that all would come to know Him through faith and be able to spend eternity with Him also. A memorial service will held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 8 at Calvary Baptist Church (note new location on Montcalm Ave. NE North of M-57 west of Greenville) with her Pastor, Rev. R. Mark Shaw officiating. Interment will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Darlenes honor are suggested to Calvary Baptist Church or Hospice of Michigan.

Dear Keith, Tonda, Melodie, Keithann, Regina, and Kurt -- I was so sorry to hear about Darlene from my mom. Darlene and all of you were such a great part of my growing up on Wise Road and I still think of all of you often. Please know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. HI! this is Amy. Little Chris's girlfriend. I only knew Mrs. Myers from talking to her on the phone a few times but i know that she was a really sweet and loving person. And she told me that she really hopes that she gets to see all of us in heaven. I almost cried. I love going over to Melodie's house with little Chris and his mom tells all these stories about Mrs. Myers and her sisters and they're so funny! I just glad she's in a better place now. i know even though she's gone, she's always with you no matter what. And she's told me she loves all of you guys very much. Hebrews 13:5a "I will never leave you nor forsake you." ~Amy Kuhns~ P.S. SMILES! :-D

The best youth leaders there ever were! That would be Keith and Darlene Myers. They were both there for the most difficult years of a lot of teenagers lives including mine. No words can say how much love they showed and how much I love them back. I always made sure to get my hugs from both while at church. Can't wait to get to heaven and get another one from Darlene! Keith, next time I'm there, expect an extra big hug! I love you! I'm praying for you and your family and wish so much I could have been there.

I was so sorry to hear of Darlene's passing. My thought and prayers are with you and the kids. I have many fond memories of being at your house and as such. I will always treasure those memories. I'm a nurse now, and work with cancer patients and their families, and as hard as it is sometimes, it is also a great blessing when the patient and family are Christians and I can pray with them knowing that their goodbyes are only temporary. I know you are comforted with that thought. Until we all all meet again -
