Robert Jack Christensen, 85, a lifetime resident of the Trufant area died Sunday, July 6th, 2008 at the Masonic Pathways Senior Living Center in Alma. He was born in Gowen on May 4th, 1923 to Christen and Martha (Fredericksen) Christensen.
Bob lived for most of his life on the family farm on West Hillis Road, though he loved to travel throughout Michigan and the United States. He enjoyed finding unique and remote waterfalls, and loved to spend time in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula with his family and friends.
He retired in 1980 from the Federal Mogul Corporation in Greenville after working there for more than thirty years. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a Fireman First Class aboard the USS Whippet. Bob loved to read, watch old westerns, do crossword puzzles, and work on his pond project down by his creek. He was a member of the Trufant Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, a loyal member of the Moose, and a member of the VFW Post 3701.
Bob is survived by his loving cousin, Dolores Williams, of Cedar Springs; his son, Greg Brough of Greenville; his daughter, Holly (Duane) Wolfe of Evart; his son Kelly (Cassie) Brough of Gowen; his grandchildren, Rachel Wolfe, Paul Wolfe, and Eric Brough; many cousins, friends, neighbors, and his faithful dog, Lady. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Martha and Chris; and his longtime friend Daphne (Pete) Brough.
By arrangement with the Hurst Funeral Home in Greenville, Bob will be buried next to his parents in a private ceremony at the Little Denmark Cemetery in Gowen. Bobs friends and family are invited to share their memories at a Memorial Open House at his home located at 12416 W. Hillis Rd in Trufant, from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, July 22nd.
