John William Means Funeral services for John William Means, 91, of Spurger will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following in Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Means died July 13, 2008 at Holiday Pines Nursing Home in Woodville.

Mr. Means was a native and lifelong resident of Spurger. After working as a surveyor for Kirby Lumber Co., he owned a grocery store and gas station for many years.

Mr. Means was preceded in death by his parents, VanBuren Hopkins Means and Lillie Mae Crain Means, wife Fay Anderson Means and sons Jerry Means and Pat Means.

Survivors include sons John H. Means and wife Alvina of Spurger and Neil Means and wife Kay of Spurger; daughter Nancy Griffin and husband Bobby of Town Bluff; sister Annie Winkle of Orange; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and thirteen great, great grandchildren.

You were an uncle that i will always remeber!! I can see him know in those over-alls and bent pointer finger!! Very nice man!! Miss aunt faye, and remember my fun times with son Jerry and his wife many years ago! God Bless and Cherish the memories forever! Your nephew nolan
