Carolyn Jeanette Varnon CAROLYN JEANETTE VARNON passed from this life July 19, 2008 in Navasota, Texas. She was born April 20, 1949 in Beaumont, Texas and is the daughter of Alvin Varnon, Sr. and Wilma Jean Willis Varnon, both deceased. She was reared on a farm at Zavalla, Texas and lived in Houston and Beaumont and then in Lumberton, Texas.

She is survived by her brothers, Alvin Varnon, Jr. of Magnolia, Texas and Thurman Dale Varnon and wife Glenda of Flint, Texas and special friend Robert Lee of Magnolia, Texas.

She attended elementary school at Zavalla, Texas and graduated from high school at Vidor, Texas. In 1971 she graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She graduated from nursing school in Houston, Texas, earning a license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. In 1991, she graduated from Lamar University, earning a degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked for a time at Hospitals in Houston and at a Penal Facility in Navasota, Texas before returning to live in Lumberton. She worked as a Neonatal Nurse in the Beaumont area for many years.

She suffered a long illness fighting breast cancer and finally lost the battle to brain cancer. The family wishes to express a special gratitude and thanks to Jerry and Janice Morris and to all her neighbors and friends for their unrelenting love and help over the years.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 9:00 PM Monday July 21, 2008 with services at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Farmer Funeral Home, 415 N 4th Street, Silsbee, Texas (409-385-2828).

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
