Winston M. Cairns, formerly of Greenville, died Monday July 21, 2008 at Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville, Colorado. He was 92.
Born February 17,1916, in Greenville, he was the son of Robert D. and Ferna Shroll Cairns. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1935 and served in the US Army in WW II. He married Ruth Anderson of Greenville, on August 21, 1946. She preceded him in death in 2000.
While living in Greenville, Mr. Cairns was employed by Gibson Refrigerator and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. A resident of Broomfield CO since 1957, he worked in the insurance industry until his retirement and was a charter member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.
Mr. Cairns is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Robert and Sue Cairns of Firestone, CO and Bruce and Sheila Cairns of Ft. Wayne Indiana; and daughter and son-in-law Ann Cairns and Larry Bangs of Boulder, CO. Also surviving are two grandchildren and their families: Brent and Maria Cairns and great granddaughters Sydney, Isabella, Peyton and Savanah of Denver, CO and Lori Cairns-Alspaugh and Clay Alspaugh and great-grandsons Peter and Samuel of Longmont, CO. Mr. Cairns is also survived by nine nieces and nephews and their families.
A memorial service was held Thursday July 24,at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Interment will be Sunday August 24, 2008 at 2 PM, at East Montcalm Cemetery in Greenville. The Rev. Donald Veitengruber will officiate. Friends of Mr. Cairns are invited to attend.
