Harry Johnson Jr. age 87 of Greenville died Tuesday September 9, 2008 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus Grand Rapids, MI. He was born in Hastings, MI on May 4, 1921 the son of Harry F. and Cora Gerd Johnson and was raised with the family of Bernice Traver. He was employed at Federal Mogul Corporation for 35 and ½ years, retiring in 1981. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1937 and was a member of the American Legion Post # 101, the Greenville Moose Lodge and he served on the Great Lakes in WW II. He was married to Lela M. Collins in Greenville on April 2, 1960.
Surviving are his wife Lela of Greenville his children, Robert M. and Salle Johnson of Fenwick, Jimmy L. and Marsha Johnson of Comstock Park, Bets L. Johnson of Belding and Judy and Randy Draper of Battle Creek, Lelas children, Mary and Larry Snow of Greenville and James and Joyce Sharp of Greenville, 18 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren, his foster brother and sister, Donald Traver of Sarasota, Florida and Avon Kemberling of Battle Creek. His step- son Bruce DeForest preceded him in death on Nov. 2, 2007.
Memorial services will be held on Friday September 12 2008 at 1 PM from Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Ken Harger officiating. Burial will be in Richland Cemetery, Vestaburg. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home
