Joseph "J. L." Broussard, 84, of Kountze, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. J. L. was born to Angelas and Agnes Broussard on April 24, 1924, in Kaplan, LA. A resident of Kountze, TX for 66 years, he was a retired Supervisor at Transcontinental Pipeline in Sour Lake, TX. He proudly served his country in the United States Army having attained the rank of Corporal during World War II. J. L. was a retired member of the Kountze Volunteer Fire Department and was a deacon and faithful member of 1st Baptist Church of Kountze. Being very mission minded he had gone to Belize on mission trips.
He is survived by his wife Mildred "Mutt" Broussard, sister Gloria Broussard of Kaplan, LA, sister Ruby Walters and husband Dennis of LaPlace, LA; granddaughter, Veronica Thornton of Kountze,; 3 great grandsons, Jeromy Thornton of Dallas, Jarrod Thornton of Kountze, Jacob Thornton of Kountze and numerous nieces, nephews, friends & other relatives.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Robbie Keown, formerly of Kountze.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 12:00 noon at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee and immediately followed by a graveside service at Old Hardin Cemetery in Kountze, Texas.
