Barbara Friley age 89 of Greenville formerly of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully at her home in Green Acres Retirement Living in Greenville. She was born in Athol Mass. On May 15 1919 the daughter of Paul and May Barrus Smith and was married on June 22,1939 to Charles E. Friley Jr. He preceded her in death Sep 2002.
She was a graduate of Athol High School in Mass and enjoyed with her husband traveling, music, walking, cross country skiing, tossing Frisbee and the companionship of her husband and was a sponsor of the Grand Rapids Symphony.
She is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Larry) Hoffman of White Cloud and Lynne (Ned) Welder of Sheridan, grandchildren; Kirk (Jeanine) Hoffman of Jackson, Terry (kellie) Hoffman of Battle Creek, Tony (Eunlee) Hoffman of Hudsonville, Jed (Milka) Welder of Greenville and April (Mike) Petersen of Gowen, 8 great grandchildren and one more expected , her sister-in-law Fran Kuyper of Colorado.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Sunday Nov 2, 2008 at 2 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. Inurnment will be in Graceland mausoleum. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund.
