Louise Wyatt Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1915 - 2008

Louise Wyatt Louise Rogers Wyatt, 93, of Silsbee died of congestive heart failure November 3, 2008 in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Farmer Funeral Home with interment in R S Farmer Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm Thursday before the service.

Louise once remarked, 'I am so lucky. I have been loved since the day I came into this world and will be loved until I leave it.' That statement can sum up a lot Louise. The love she received was a reflection of the care and devotion she gave to those around her and she relished the blessings of daily life. Always seeking to learn new things and improve herself, Louise was an avid reader and kept an open mind to new ideas in a world that evolved much during her long and productive life. Of course, Louise had beliefs she always held to firmly and was not shy about sharing those ideas with anyone either? And whoever listened would certainly be the wiser. The morals and virtues that she remained dedicated to served her well and hopefully will be the legacy she leaves to family and loved ones: serve the Lord and your community, be a hard worker, live within your means, place great importance on education, be a good steward, learn something every day, have a cheerful disposition and treasure family.

Louise was born to James Lecil Rogers and Effie Edwena Rogers in Escatapwa, Mississippi on September 10, 1915. She attended school in Moss Point where her favorite subject was Math and she played softball and basketball. Louise spent much of her formative years picking flowers, going for walks in the country and canoeing the bayous. It was fitting that her first date with her husband, Ira, was on a walk home from church. Religion and faith in God were central to the lives of both Louise and Ira who were married on April 30, 1938 in Louise's childhood home in Escatapwa. In 1945, Louise and her husband left Escatapwa and the home where she had been born, married and had her first two children Barbara Faye and James Ira (Jimmy). The family moved to Phoenix, AZ, where she had her third child, Heloise Eileen before making a permanent residence in Silsbee in 1954. As a wife and mother, Louise created a stable and loving household where the values of hard work, living by the Golden Rule and faith in God were practiced. She was a wonderful homemaker and an excellent cook who delighted in creating meals that were both healthy as well as delicious. Her Sunday roasts, vegetables from the family garden and homemade biscuits were greeted with mouthwatering enthusiasm by generations of family and friends. Louise was an active participant in her community serving as a lifelong member of Eastern Star and as a Past Worthy Matron. She volunteered her time as a reading aid with Silsbee ISD and was loved by her neighbors who crowned her the "Queen of Hickory Street" in recognition of her many years as a "good neighbor". Outside of family and home, Louises most cherished role was as an active and dedicated member of the small but passionate, Community of Christ church.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Ira and two brothers, Brewton Scott Green and Rudolph Valentino Rogers. Survivors include her children Barbara Faye Kaminski and husband Paul of Derry Township, PA, Jimmy Wyatt and wife Beverly of Fort Worth and Eileen Nash and husband Ronny of Silsbee; grandchildren Ray Kaminski and wife Jonese of Chico, CA, Stephen Kaminski of Hattiesburg, MS, Phyllis Davis and husband Mick of Clifton Park, NY, David Ira Kaminski and wife Melissa of Harrisburg, Beth Nash Williams and husband Tarlac of Austin, Wyatt Nash of New York, NY and Kari Carlton and husband Chris of Fort Worth; eleven great grandchildren; eighteen nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews.

Contributions can be made in Louise's name to Community of Christ Church in care of John Tessler at 3530 Charleston Lane, Beaumont, Texas 77706.
