Charles Monroe Niles IIICharles Monroe Roe Niles III age 80 of Gowen died peacefully at his home on Thursday December 4, 2008. He was born in Grand Rapids on October 9, 1928 the son of Charles M. Roe II and Grace Hill Niles. He graduated from Lowell High School and was a heavy equipment operator in construction all over Michigan and the Midwest and was a member of Operating Engineers Local # 324. He was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church of Greenville. He married Ethel M. Schindorf at Blessed Sacrament Church Grand Rapids on April 21, 1979.

His parents and his sister Margaret Peggy Person preceded him in death.

He is survived by is wife Ethel of Gowen, his son Terry Niles and his granddaughter Stephanie Niles of Caledonia, sisters, Nina Harrington of Ada and Suzanne Sally and Alan Herboldsheimer of San Magil CA and Grace E. Betsy Niles, special care giver nephew Terry Bradley of Gowen, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Eloise Schopefer of Gowen, Eleanor Bradley of Lakeview, Patricia Levandoski of Caledonia, Ellen and Robert Mason of Greenville, Lavern and Ann Schindorf of Tennesse, Harold James(Beverly) Schindorf of Grand Rapids and Charlotte Cook of Muskegon, his son Terrys mother, Joan Niles of Grand Rapids and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday December 9, 2008 at 11 AM from St. Charles Catholic Church with Rev. Father Phil Salmonowicz as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Visitation will be Sunday from 1- 4 PM with a Bible Vigil at 3:30 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. In Lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be given to St. Charles Church or School or a charity of your choice.
