L. Edith Steffensen age 98 of Greenville died Saturday December 13, 2008 in Greenville. She was born in Spencer Township, Kent County, Michigan on December 28,1909 the daughter of John L. and Julia Frank Eurich. Edith was a retired public school teacher with over 42 years of teaching in many rural schools, including Gowen, Butternut, Satterlee, White Swan and retired from Northview Public Schools. She was a member of the Michigan Education and National Education Associations, and the former Greenville Business and Professional Womens Club, Danish Sisterhood, Life member and past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star (OES), Rebeccas, Past President of the DAR, worthy high priestess of White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Salem Circle of First Congregational Church and AMARATH of Muskegon.
She was married to Carl M. Steffensen in Greenville on July 17,1937 and he preceded her in death in 1966. Her sister Violet Miller also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her cousins, Virginia Frank Foote and her husband Robert Foote of Greenville, Donna Frank West and her husband Elmer of California and special care giver and friend Kendall Hagadus of Greenville. Her family appreciates the care given by Hospice and Quality Foster Home of Greenville.
Funeral services and committal will be held on Wednesday December 17, 2008 at 1 PM at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with Rev. Jerrold T. Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Spring at South Sidney Cemetery, Sheridan. Her family will greet friends prior to the funeral services. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice
