Ruth Lydia Mountney age 88 of Greenville died Tuesday December 30, 2008 at Metron of Greenville. She was born in Providence, RI on Jan. 31, 1920 the daughter of Joseph C. and Alice M Siebel Thurber and was married in Warwick RI on December 25, 1940 to Charles L. Mountney Jr. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Greenville and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Pawtucket RI and worked for many years at Awangam Hunt in RI. She participated in the WW II war effort by working in the Naval Shipyards in Providence while her husband served in the US Navy.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed crafts.
Her husband preceded her in death on June 7, 1997 and her sisters Marian and Dorothy also preceded her.
She is survived by her children, Robert C. and Sherry Mountney of Greenville MI and Carol M. Kelly of Tucson AZ, her grandchildren, Robert C. Jr. and Connie Mountney of Greenville MI and Robert R. Kelly of AZ and Bonnie Kelly of CA, great grandchildren,
Larissa, Tory, Joel, Kaitlynn and Derick, her brothers Joseph Thurber and Walter and Elise Thurber of Warwick RI, sister Virginia Barnes of W. Warwick RI and sister-in-law Velna Marti of Cranston RI and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday Jan. 3, 2009 at 2 PM from Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville with her pastor, Rev. Jeff Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be given to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church or Tamarack District Library.
