Sam Brown of Saratoga, Texas was born June 27, 1940 and has passed away at the age of 68 on January 31, 2009 in the ICU of Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital with his family present.
He was a loving father and husband. He left behind his wife, Nancy Brown of Saratoga and three children, Brenda Alpers of Saratoga, Tommy Brown of Saratoga, and Tammy Brown of Shepherd. Also, three step-children, Vince Armentor of Groves, Lezlie Armentor-Romeo of Port Arthur and Audy Armentor of Houston and a sister Samantha Davis Silvia of Saratoga. There are 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
He was a very close friend to many people and an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was always at home in the woods and on the Trinity River.
Sam has been a Mason in good standing of the Saratoga Lodge 914 for many years. He worked a variety of jobs during his life, much of it in the woods cutting trees and operating heavy equipment. As a young man he worked on oil derricks and as well spent 29 ½ years with Bethlehem Steel Co. Afterwards, he worked in the woods again with his sons, Rusty and Tommy Brown. He continued to do construction work until 1992 when his heart condition slowed him down.
He was the recipient of a heart transplant on October 21, 1998 that allowed him more time with his family. He was able to see most of his grand children grow up and to meet all of his great grandchildren. His last 10 years were a true blessing.
Sam was a great man who loved his family and was everyones friend. He believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and lived a Christian life as he helped all those around him. He always put Jesus, family and loved ones before all else.
Sam Brown was truly a wonderful man beyond description. He is loved by so many and so many will miss him. Sam will always be with us, in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.
