Marilyn  Jean HancockMarilyn Jean Hancock age 75 of Sheridan died suddenly Tuesday February 3, 2009 at Central Michigan Hospital Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Ionia County on June 2 1933 the daughter of Frederick and Corine Dolan Jensen. She is a graduate of Sheridan High School with the class of 1952 and married Thomas E. Hancock in Stanton on September 21, 1957. Marilyn was the village of Sheridan clerk for the past 33 years and had worked as manager of the D.L. Petersen Insurance office for 25 years, previously employed at Gibsons in Greenville and the Mitchell Bentley Co in Ionia and the Carnation Co. in Sheridan. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother always putting her family ahead of herself, giving her time to be the biggest sports fan to husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, going to shows and her flowers. She was a kind, caring, giving and thoughtful person always there for everyone and will be lovingly missed by her family and many friends and neighbors and the village of Sheridan.

She is survived by her husband Tom and their children; Kathy and Al Moore of Hubbardston, Karen and Bob Youngs of Belding, Thomas and Holly Hancock of Battle Creek, Kim Hancock of Battle Creek and David Hancock and his fiancé Michelle Schalow of Sheridan, her grandchildren; Gabe and Stacy Moore, Josh and Heather Moore, Justin Moore and friend Erin OConnor; Cassie, Katie and Kara Youngs; Haley, Brady, Karlee and Macy Hancock and great grandchildren, Deagan, Farren, and Kinley Moore, her sister Charlene and Chuck Cilibraise of Sheridan and sister-in-law Pat and Dick Chapin of Sheridan and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and committal will be held on Saturday February 7, 2009 at 11 AM from Hurst Funeral Home Greenville with her nephew Rev. Father Michael Cilibraise officiating. Burial will be in Sheridan Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in her honor can be given to her family.

We have very fond memories of Marilyn. We remember when we had our "new" house in Fenwick and all of you came to visit us. Again, some 30 years down the path, we were excited when you visited us in the northwoods. Marilyn was kind and friendly. We will miss her.
