Hubert A. Cable Click for Condolences      Printable Version
1931 - 2009

Hubert Audley Cable, 77 of Crystal passed away at home on February 22, 2009 after a long illness. He was born to Grace and Audley Cable on February 27,1931 in Muskegon. After graduating from Crystal High School, he served in the US Navy for four years aboard the LST-279. On June 27,1953 he married Marjorie Ann Robb in East Detroit. Together they raised their four children in the home they built in Crystal while running a grocery store and heating/air conditioning service. In his spare time, Hubie enjoyed antique tractors and cars, playing guitar, carpentry, watching the Pistons games and smoking a good pipe in a favorite chair. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don of Stanton and Tom of Brandon FL. He is survived by his wife Marjorie, children Phil and Cheryl Cable of Yoder, CO, Scot and Cheri Cable of Crystal, Karen and Paul Bilodeau of Sparta, Karla Taber and friend Wil Moore of Greenville, a sister Joan Ballard and her husband John of Dade City FL. As requested by Hubert, a private family memorial followed by cremation is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer society or to Sparrow Hospice Services.

Marge and family, I was so saddened to hear about Hubert's passing. It sure brought back some memories. Your family was so kind and generous to my family over the years. Always a friendly face when you went in to Cable's grocery. Later, I had the pleasure of working with Scot when that same store changed hands. In one form or another, your family was a part of my life for many, many years. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you, both now and in the days to come. God Bless, Carolyn (Leonard) Williams Janice Leonard David Leonard Bill Leonard

Marge, Phil, Scot, Karen and Karla, I am so sorry to hear about Hubert. Although it's never easy, I'm sure it brings you great comfort to know that he is at peace now and in a better place. I am comforted to know that my dad and his good friend are together. My thoughts are with you. Take care, Lisa (Stone)

I just wanted you all to know how sorry I am for your loss. I have many fond memories of growin up behind the store and bugging the heck out of the boys while they were trying to work. I lost my dad last September. And while it sounds like it may be a blessing for your dad due to illness, it still leaves a huge emptiness. God Bless, Marti
