Ruth Marie Osmer age 82 of Sheridan died Monday February 23, 2009
at Spectrum Health United Memorial Long Term Care Greenville. She was born in Greenville January 30 1927 the daughter of Merton E. and Melina Quilliam Gates. Ruth was a member of the Stanton American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed playing cards, euchre especially, going fishing and being with her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Edward Gates and sisters Dorothy Adams and Grace Gates and her son Michael Osmer in 1995.
She is survived by her sons Steve Osmer and William and Diane Osmer all of Sheridan, her grandchildren; Will Osmer, Andy and Missy Osmer of Sheridan, Ben and Tia Osmer of Lexington KY, Nicolas Osmer of Ohio, Michael Osmer of Lexington KY, great grandchildren, Madison Leigh Osmer , Aiden Andrew Osmer, Dakota Osmer and Kayla Osmer, her brother Francis and Shirley Gates, her sister-in-law Dorothy Gates and brother-in-law Charles Adams.
Funeral services will be Thursday February 26 2009 at 1 PM from Hurst Funeral Home Greenville with Rev. Kendall Harger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sheridan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given the family for Steve in care of William Osmer. Envelopes are available at the funeral home

Sorry to hear of Ruth's passing. She was a close friend of my family (Ken & Katie Clark). In fact I was at her wedding in the 1950's. My prayers are with you.

To the Osmer family: My condolences, Ruth was a very good friend to Dennis & me. She always kept me in touch with what was going on in our little town of Sheridan after we moved away. She was a great woman. My prayers are with all of you, especially Steve. I'm sure he will be lost without his "Ruth"
