Gordon Thomas Custer Click for Condolences      Printable Version 1961 - 2009 Gordon Thomas Custer age 47 of Greenville died at home Saturday February 28, 2009. He was born in Crawsfordville, Indiana on August 11,1961 the son of Richard L. and Lois Jane Kobel Custer. He was a US Army veteran from 1979 to 1986 receiving the rank of Sgt. He graduated from Natchitoches Central High School in Louisiana and was employed the past several years for AB Spring Service in Grand Rapids and was a member of the AMVets Post # 588 of Edmore. He married Linda L. Wilson at Rockford United Methodist Church on February 25, 1989. His love for his family and their activities was his prized possession. He enjoyed scenic photography, sharp-shooting and camping in the Upper Peninsula and Mackinac Island. He was preceded in death by his mother Lois Jane Alenduff, step- father Gordon Tomlinson and step-daughter Heather. He is survived by his wife Linda Custer of Greenville, daughter Leeah Custer and her fiance Steven Roberts of Muskegon, son Matthew Custer of Greenville, his sisters, Mona (Ken) Phillips of Rockford and Janet (Julio) Deyman of Cedar Springs, his brother William (Deb) Zachary of Rockford, father Richard Custer, father and mother-in-law Arnold and Marge Wilson of Waterford, sister-in-law Victoria (Steve) Widman of Milford and brother-in-law Kevin(Susie) Wilson of Diamond Missouri, nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends. Memorial services will be held on Thursday March 5 2009 at 5 PM from Greenville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Charnley officiating and military honors provided by the AMVets Post # 588. A visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at Hurst Funeral Home Greenville. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of West Michigan or to the Custer Family Education Fund.

Our condolence to the Custer Family.My family meant Gordey when our family lived in Grand Rapids when my family lived on Ann St and his family lived behind us. Then Gordeys family moved away, I belived they moved to Dorr.In 1971 my family had moved into Rockford.In Rockford my brother Joe ran into Gordey again. They rekidle there friendship again. Then in 1977 my family had moved out of the Rockford area and moved into the Walker Area. My brother Joe had lost track of Gordey after a year of moving out of the Rockford area.
